CATHOLIC JACKIE was hard held between rivals in the third tier after the start, began to confidently pass runners while in hand two wide around the bend, angled out to the six path full of run in upper stretch, found another gear when encouraged right-handed at the furlong marker and closed in sharply in deep stretch to win going away impressively at the finish line. WETIKO broke inwards on the start, had a nice set up outside watching the engaged duo down the backstretch, moved in smartly for the lead outside at the quarter pole, opened up on runners turning for home having a comfortable advantage, continued to run to the wire down the stretch but just could not fend off the strong late surge by the winner in the final seventy yards. VINI VIDI VICI tracked the contesting pair on the fence in the beginning, shifted outside midturn off a tiring rival, rallied between runners to be in the hunt four wide straightening out for home and stubbornly prevailed in the duel for third place in deep stretch inside. CLIVE CROSS was checked on the break to be at the rear, co-trailed on the inside down the backside, began to pick up the bit four wide between horses midturn, gathered more speed eight wide swinging out for the drive, finished up on the wrong lead down the stretch and could not win the battle for the show money late. ASHUKA had a rail stalking position along the backside in the third flight, travelled two wide but was inside horses keeping up with the outside flow throughout the turn and finished up one paced in the drive to the wire. GLORIOUS REVENGE pressed the pace outside down the backside, assumed command when the other speed foe dropped back at the three furlong pole, lost the lead outside at the quarter marker offering no resistance, tried to hang on two wide in upper stretch fighting for a minor share but yielded inside by the sixteenth pole. SCREEN LEGEND veered out on the break, co-trailed on the outside down the back straight, offered a mild run going four to five wide outside horses around the bend, was then floated out widest in the nine path turning for home and had no finish to give down the stretch. MIAH SAID dueled inside up top along the backside, dropped back conceding the front end on the rail at the three furlong pole, could not carry on inside rivals through the turn and emptied out on the fence in mid-stretch. GENTLE PERSUASION stalked three deep near the rear, was under a vigorous ride three wide with five sixteenths remaining but could not keep up to others on either side through the turn and could not get involved in the stretch running.
