Footnotes
GRAFFITI WRITER had rail position in the middle of the pack rating kindly, inched up inside runners with a half mile still to run, waited on the fence behind the engaged trio at the three-furlong pole, shifted out three wide finding a seam two furlongs from the prize. loomed menacingly in upper stretch and drove on past leaving the furlong pole to win going away in the late running. AUDAX MINOR travelled four wide in midfield, took closer order to the pacesetter four deep at the five eighths marker, dropped back midway on the last turn, hugged the rail beginning to reach for more ground in upper stretch, moved out to the three path having a clear lane coming on at the furlong marker, switched leads late coming to the sixteenth pole finding another gear in deep stretch and surged in the final seventy yards to best the rest for the runners up share. SHAMATEUR cleared off outside another early in the first turn to have front end to his own entering the backstretch, maintained a narrow advantage inside at the half, was clinging up top inside two others around the far turn, continued to battle on the rail in upper stretch, was no match for the winner by the sixteenth pole but did dig in late to save for the show money in a tight photo at the wire. GOOD KING SAM was brushed on the outside on the start, recovered quickly darting through on the fence to force the issue early on, was reined in at the three quarter pole to track the leader down the backside, vied up top under a snug hold with runners on each side at the half, rallied to get a head advantage at the quarter marker, was clinging onto the lead between horses in upper stretch, stayed on the incorrect lead down the lane and was outkicked in deep stretch to only be a fringe player in the end. JUST A GEM broke inwards at the start, settled between foes in midturn around the first bend, took closer aim on the leader between horses in the three path at the half, dueled three wide for the front end outside two others around the last turn, gave way up top with a quarter mile to run and weakened in the four path in upper stretch. JAY BIRD was forced in, having to be taken up briefly in tight at the start, trailed the field on the first turn, shared the rear on the rail down the back straight, saved ground making little progression on the far turn and could not factor in the late running. ADAPTED was away slowly, settled near the rear outside runners going four wide on the first turn, co-trailed outside another along the backside, made little impression around the far turn and had little to give just off the rail in the stretch drive.
