Footnotes
POPPY'S JOY settled on the rail in midfield, loped along on the fence rating kindly keeping pace down the backstretch, was on hold behind the dueling trio through the far turn, shifted out three wide at the top of the lane closing in, switched out to the five path off the battling leaders at the furlong marker and with a late charge got up nearing the wire for the hard fought victory. WICKENHEISER had a slow start to trail in the early stages, gathered momentum behind the horses at the rear with five sixteenths to go looking for a seam, found a lane two wide at the top of the stretch, burst between horses making a strong move at the sixteenth pole to have her head in front for a moment late but just missed at the finish line for the win. CHARLOTTESAPPROVAL had a tracking position going three wide outside foes around the first of two turns, took closer order three deep down the backside, ranged up when coaxed three wide on the far turn to bid outside for the lead at the quarter pole, inched away up top briefly at the furlong marker, could not find more to fend off the closers and faded in deep stretch just saving third. WELL INTO forced the issue on the outside in the first turn, hounded the frontrunner between rivals at the half, took closer order vying between horses for the lead at the quarter pole, battled stubbornly in the three path with challengers on both sides down the lane up front but just gave way late in a tight finish barely losing the show award when the dust settled at the wire. ROSA travelled between runners in mid-pack in the early stages, kept pace being scrubbed on through the last turn, angled out six wide straightening out for home and was gaining on the leaders in the final furlong smartly but could not move up a position at the finish line. ZISISIT (IRE) assumed command on the fence, dictated terms up top while shadowed outside along the backside, was headed outside by two rivals at the quarter pole, fought on inside in upper stretch but flattened out on the fence with a sixteenth remaining. WONKA stalked near the rear on the outside, made little improvement outside runners down the backside, had little to offer throughout the far turn, angled six wide turning for home and drifted inwards driving to the finish but could not get involved down the lane.
