Footnotes
RY PIE settled in midfield down the back straight, ranged up three wide at the five sixteenths marker outside foes, quickly moved in when under a ride at the quarter pole, took the lead five wide at the furlong marker and under left handed encouragement still drifted inwards late to hold safe in the two path when crossing the finish line. TODAY stalked down the backside ahead of a couple runners early on, shifted out to the two path splitting horses commencing a run with three eighths to go, had to be checked four wide lacking running room at the quarter pole losing momentum, angled out eight wide getting into gear again in upper stretch and was closing in smartly late but could not get to the winner in time. BEARING DOWN tracked between rivals in the two path down the backside, had a nice position alone watching the contesting trio at the half, improved on the fence throughout the turn, skimmed the rail into early stretch to be in the thick of things at the eighth pole, was in tight on the rail late when the winner was drifting in and just lost the runners up share in the final few strides. LEFT IN MY DUST was reined back soon after the start to be near the rear into the backstretch, began to pick up runners three wide three furlongs remaining, kept on coming angling seven wide turning for home but stalled in the last sixteenth to settle for a minor share at the wire. DISSECTOLOGIST had his head in front four deep outside rivals to begin, battled outside for the lead around the bend, was collared outside by the winner while four wide in upper stretch and flattened out between foes in the three path in the last eighth of a mile. SMART ALMASTY settled inside rivals in mid-division, took the short way around closing the gap inside horses around the turn and was in range three wide straightening out for the drive for a piece of the prize but levelled off on the fence by the furlong marker. IMAGE OF QUALITY pressed three wide between rivals in the beginning, was then throttled down sitting just off the front pair at the half outside, could not quicken when roused five sixteenths from home and shifting out five wide for the drive failed to fire in deep stretch. RED ENSIGN travelled in mid-pack on the outside, offered a brief rally bursting around horses five wide at the quarter pole, was floated out widest in the nine path turning for home still with run but lacked a finish in the late stages. GOOD POINT dropped back soon after the start when in tight between foes to trail the field down the backstretch, had no movement at the rear through the turn and passed a straggler in the final furlong on the outside. ISSANO had a tracking position on the rail early on, took closer order to force the pace inside at the half, dueled inside up front around the bend, had little left when backing through the field in midturn, emptied out four wide in upper stretch and galloped home down the lane. RIDERS CLAIM OF FOUL #3 BEARING DOWN AGAINST #11 RY PIE IN DEEP STRETCH WAS DISALLOWED
