Footnotes
PERSONAL PURSUIT patiently settled into stride on the fence in the second to last group down the backside, improved on the fence into the turn saving all the ground, shifted outside off the tiring early leader coming into the lane, closed with a flurry in the final furlong and got up just before the wire for the stretch running score. CARA CARA broke in taking the lead at the start, was reined back at the five furlong pole to let the outside rival intent for the lead go on, shifted to the outside at the half, moved in to re-engage for the front midway around the turn, disposed of the early speed foe moving in hand comfortably by the quarter pole, opened up in upper stretch having a clear advantage, kept on going to the wire but could not fend off the late rush by the winner inside in deep stretch. VERDEJO could see the field while three deep down the backside, began to pick up the bit at the midpoint around the turn, burst between rivals in the five path in early stretch, switched leads at the eighth pole finding another gear and finished up strongly late to be a clear third when crossing the finish. HAPPY VALENTINE was tucked in on the fence watching the front duo down the back straight, continued to keep tabs on the contesting pair in midturn, shifted three wide for the stretch run to be in the thick of things at the top of the lane but stalled late holding for only a minor share in the end. AWASEF broke out on the start, stalked outside a runner in the second to last group along the backside, made little movement three wide through the turn, angled out six wide at the top of the stretch and passed a few tired rivals down the lane to the finish line. LIVIN ON LUV tracked between horses in the two path, could not accelerate with runners on both sides when they were making a move at the three eighths pole, dropped back around the bend and was one paced in the three path down the stretch. MISS VYVYANNE was bounced around between horses on the start, rushed up after the compromised start to take control outside by the five furlong pole setting a brisk pace down the backside, was collared outside with five sixteenths from home, offered little resistance on the fence by the top of the stretch and stopped at the furlong marker. CHROMEPLATED HEART was squeezed on the break, recouped to track three deep outside foes along the backside, was roused two wide in midturn trying to keep up to the leaders, had little left for the drive and tired at the furlong marker.
