Footnotes
WAR PAINTER travelled four wide outside runners in mid-pack, narrowed the margin three deep by the half, moved in going four wide around the last turn, found another gear when encouraged at the furlong pole closing in, reached for more ground late extending right at the wire and prevailed for the victory in a blanket finish in the end. HURRICANE CLAIR was rank on the rail into the first turn, slipped up the fence to improve to midfield down the backstretch, waited behind the front pair in tight quarters midway around the last turn, quickly shot through finding a seam in the three path with an eighth from the wire, took control at the sixteenth pole but could not fend off the winner in a thrilling finish. SECRET LOAD was unhurried trail down the backstretch, continued to lope along seeing the field down the backside, closed in at the quarter pole gathering speed, swung out widest in the six path for the stretch drive full of run, was flying on end late but could not get there in time in a multiple horse finish for the win. NIKITA'S GEM stalked near the rear outside, settled into stride ahead of only one runner down the backside, kept pace three wide waiting for room around the final bend, had runners in front looking for a seam in the four path in upper stretch, shifted out five wide at the furlong marker getting clear for a moment, lacked room in tight at the seventy yards pole due to the drifting out rival and finally with no obstruction surged nearing the wire to be one of many at the finish line for the win. LITTLE TEDDY tracked in midfield between rivals in the early parts of the race, darted between horses getting the two path seam at the quarter pole, poked her head in front four wide turning for home, drifted out under left-handed encouragement with a furlong left to run and faded slightly late with five runners abreast at the finish line. NEVER SILENT broke sharply taking this field into the first turn, rolled along loose up top along the backside, was collared outside in the two path at the top of the stretch, dug in until the furlong marker but faded inside foes in the late stages. FRAC AMOUR was under a snug hold watching the loose frontrunner around the first turn, moved in to bid outside with three furlongs remaining, was hard ridden but had nothing left by the quarter pole with rivals going by on either side and retreated in the five path in upper stretch.
